Seven planning locations with different functions create a complete Da Nang Free Trade Zone structure.
Da Nang is planning a large-scale Free Trade Zone, including 7 important locations scattered in Hai Van ward, Ba Na commune, and Hoa Vang commune.
These are carefully selected areas to develop into centers for logistics, manufacturing, high-end trade and services, digital technology, and innovation.
Each location has its own function but is connected together in a master plan, aiming to create a modern and synchronous economic space.
Located right next to Lien Chieu Port – a strategic deep-water seaport in the Central region – the No. 1 location is planned to become a key logistics area of the entire free trade zone. This will form important logistics infrastructures such as distribution centers, bonded warehouses, inland container depots (ICDs), warehouse systems and multimodal transport services.
Not only is it a gathering and transit point for goods, the No. 1 location is also a gateway for trade connecting the East-West economic corridor, effectively linking seaports, railways and road transport systems, creating a cross-regional and international logistics network for Da Nang.
Location 2 has an area of about 77 hectares, located in Hai Van ward. The North borders the Lang Van tourist complex and resort urban area and Lien Chieu communal house area; the South borders the Lien Chieu Industrial Park and residential area behind Kim Lien Bay; the East borders the residential area and Lien Chieu Industrial Park; the West borders the Lang Van tourist complex and resort urban area project.
Located next to location 1, location 2 is formed as an extension of the logistics center, acting as a preliminary processing area for re-export. The interconnected spatial structure between the two locations will create a closed port – logistics – processing complex, improving supply chain efficiency and meeting international trade standards.
Location 3 has an area of about 500 hectares, located in Hai Van ward. The North borders the ADB5 Bac Thuy Tu – Pho Nam road; the South borders the Cu De river; the East borders the Nam Hai Van bypass road; the West borders An Dinh village (former Hoa Bac commune – now Hai Van ward).
This is where a large-scale production center is planned, integrating logistics functions. Located between the Cu De River and the suburban road connecting to the airport, this place is considered the “main workshop” of the Trade Center – where export production chains are organized professionally and systematically, maximizing geographical advantages and multimodal transportation.
The development of the first three locations forms a “golden triangle” of industry – logistics – export, concentrated in the Lien Chieu port area, expanding the city’s economy to the North and Northwest.
Next to these locations, development space is opened up on the western hillsides, where nature, technology and high-class services are harmoniously planned.
Location 4 has an area of about 559 hectares, located in Ba Na commune. The North borders Hoa Ninh cemetery and the Western belt road, the South borders Dong Son and Son Phuoc villages; the East borders Son Phuoc village and DT 602 road; the West borders the Western belt road.
Adjacent to the existing High-Tech Park and Concentrated IT Park, location No. 4 will be the final piece to form the largest innovation cluster in Da Nang. With the advantage of sharing modern technical infrastructure and a clean ecological environment, this place aims to attract high value-added industries such as electronics, biotechnology, AI, semiconductor chips, etc.
Location No. 5 (area of 90 hectares) and Location No. 6 (154 hectares) are both located in Ba Na commune. Location No. 5 is one of the first plots of land to be cleared in preparation for construction. Sun Group Corporation plans to build luxury resorts, resort villas, duty-free shopping centers and international-class commercial services here, contributing to making Da Nang a luxury tourism center in the region.
Location No. 6 is planned as a “high-class green neighborhood” – where international residents, experts and tourists can enjoy an ecological space combined with a modern system of commercial, medical, resort and health care facilities.
Locations 5 and 6 create a trade – service – resort axis parallel to the industry – production axis, clearly demonstrating the multi-industry integration spirit of the Da Nang free trade zone.
Location No. 7 has an area of 401 hectares, located in the two communes of Ba Na and Hoa Vang. Considered the “Silicon Valley” of the Central region, this is where the digital economic zone is formed with modern infrastructure, integrating universities, R&D centers, expert housing areas, hospitals and sports and cultural centers. Not only attracting technology businesses, this area also aims to build an international intellectual community, bringing Da Nang into the era of innovation and creativity.
Currently, the Management Board of Da Nang High-Tech Park and Industrial Parks is coordinating with local authorities to publicize planning documents and drawings and collect comments from agencies, organizations, individuals and communities.
This activity is within the framework of the city’s general planning, related to the identification of 7 locations expected to build functional areas in the Free Trade Zone.
The posting of documents and receiving comments will be carried out within 30 days, starting from July 18, in communes and wards related to the planning scope.
