Da Nang, the only Vietnamese city on the list, ranked alongside other famous tourist destinations.
Vietnam’s tourism is increasingly affirming its position in the hearts of international tourists, becoming a favorite destination. The clearest evidence is the rising number of foreign visitors to Vietnam each year.
The return rate of tourists who choose to visit Vietnam more than once is also a significant factor. Most recently, a city in Central Vietnam was honored to be included in Agoda’s “Top 10 Asian Destinations with the Highest Return Visitor Rate.”
The list includes many famous names, with the Vietnamese representative ranking 8th, surpassing the Malaysian city of Johor Bahru and Hong Kong (China). That city is Da Nang. This marks the first time Da Nang has made it onto this list and is the only name from Vietnam. The full list includes:
- Bangkok (Thailand)
- Tokyo (Japan)
- Seoul (South Korea)
- Bali (Indonesia)
- Osaka (Japan)
- Taipei (Taiwan – China)
- Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia)
- Da Nang (Vietnam)
- Johor Bahru (Malaysia)
- Hong Kong (China)

What Makes Da Nang So Appealing to Tourists?
Da Nang has long been known as a bright spot on Vietnam’s tourism map, but its first-time inclusion in the “Top 10 Asian Cities with the Highest Return Visitor Rate” by Agoda reaffirms the enduring appeal of this “liveable city.”
It is not just famous for its long My Khe Beach or its peaceful pace of life; Da Nang is also a harmonious blend of natural landscapes, unique architectural icons, and modern service infrastructure, making anyone who visits want to come back.
One of the “icons” that has put Da Nang on the map for international travel sites is the Golden Bridge at Ba Na Hills—a 150-meter architectural masterpiece supported by two giant hands reaching out from the clouds. Since its opening in 2018, the bridge has consistently been listed as a “must-visit destination” by many major travel magazines.

Not far away, Marble Mountains—a cluster of five limestone mountains with pagodas, caves, and intricate stone carvings—was recognized as a special National Monument in 2019. Son Tra Peninsula is another gem with pristine nature and the rare red-shanked douc langur. Tourists can go trekking and admire a panoramic view of the city from the 67-meter-high Lady Buddha statue at Linh Ung Pagoda.
Beyond nature and heritage, Da Nang also attracts visitors with its modern structures and vibrant festivals. The Dragon Bridge, which stretches across the Han River and “breathes fire” on weekends, is considered a unique nighttime attraction by many tourists. The Han River Bridge, Vietnam’s first rotating bridge, offers a romantic and vibrant scene with its glittering lights every weekend evening.

Da Nang’s infrastructure is also well-invested, enhancing the tourist experience. The Da Nang International Airport’s T2 terminal has consistently received a 5-star rating from Skytrax and is on the “Top 10 Best Airports in Asia” list. For accommodation, the city boasts a series of high-end resorts like Danang Marriott Resort & Spa – Non Nuoc Villas, which was named “World’s Best Seaside Resort” at the Haute Grandeur Award 2025, and Furama Resort Da Nang, which has been nominated for “Vietnam’s Leading Resort” by the World Travel Awards for many years.
Da Nang’s cuisine is another major draw, from Quang noodles and banh xeo to fresh seafood. Many international tourists say one of the reasons they return to Da Nang is to enjoy its simple but soulful Central Vietnamese dishes, combined with the friendliness and hospitality of the local people.
With its natural, cultural, and human advantages, along with prestigious international awards, Da Nang is solidifying its position as an “all-in-one” destination in Asia. Whether for a relaxing retreat, nature exploration, a culinary journey, or to capture lifelong memories, this city can meet all needs, explaining why more and more tourists choose to return again and again.

Suggested Itinerary for a Trip to Da Nang
Tourists can start their morning at My Khe Beach, once voted by Forbes as one of the most attractive beaches on the planet, then head to Ba Na Hills to enjoy the cool air and snap photos at the Golden Bridge amidst the clouds. In the afternoon, the journey can continue with exploring Marble Mountains or Son Tra Peninsula, combining trekking, sightseeing, and learning about the spiritual life. As night falls, a cruise on the Han River to watch the Dragon Bridge breathe fire and the Han River Bridge rotate is an unforgettable experience for many visitors.
After Da Nang, four other Vietnamese destinations have also made a strong impression on international tourists with high return rates in the first half of 2025: Nha Trang, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Phu Quoc.
Each place has its own unique charm: Nha Trang is famous for its turquoise beaches and coral diving; Ho Chi Minh City is appealing for its vibrant pace of life, rich street food, and a mix of classic French and modern architecture; Hanoi retains its ancient charm with its Old Quarter, Hoan Kiem Lake, and unique culinary culture; and Phu Quoc is known as the “pearl island” with its clear blue seas, white sand, and luxurious resorts.
